What to Know
Reminders
- When taking your loved one to a doctor’s appointment, please stop at the nursing station to obtain a list of their current medications and any special instructions to send with them.
- Birthday Celebrations – If you would like to provide cake or treats for the coffee hour, please contact the kitchen staff at extension 20 or 23.
- When taking your family member off-site for shopping or a family visit, please contact us in advance at extension 26. This will allow us to have their medications ready to go with them and to cancel their scheduled meals.
- For transportation to and from appointments, please contact us at extension 26. Our van is available for outings and appointments, though a fee may apply. Alternatively, transportation companies are also available to provide rides to outings and appointments.

Volunteer
Lend your time and talents to make a difference in the lives of our residents by becoming a volunteer. Some examples are playing cards, help with bingo, or participating in music activities. No matter which volunteer role you choose, our residents will appreciate your commitment to enhancing their daily lives.
Stay in Touch
No Matter the Distance
Our facility uses Zoom to help residents stay connected with distant friends and family. All you need is a computer or mobile device.
If you’re not familiar with Zoom, it’s an excellent way to keep in touch across long distances.
To set up a Zoom call, simply contact our activity department. They’ll be happy to assist you in scheduling a time to video chat with your family member.

F.R.E.E
F.R.E.E. (Friends, Relatives, Enabling Elderly & Family Council) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization founded in 1984. Its mission is to enhance the quality of life for residents at the Buffalo Lake Healthcare Center. Over the years, F.R.E.E. has assisted in numerous ways to enrich the lives of the residents.
